My Pail List

pail and bucket

Who am I kidding? They’re basically the same thing.

Everyone is familiar with the concept of a bucket list. People carry around a warn and tattered scrap of paper that lists the things they want to do before they kick the bucket. Well, I’ve decided that I don’t want to wait until I’ve got one foot in the grave to start living my life. I want to enjoy every day for what it is and say yes to the world with an immediacy most people wait their whole lives to find. I want my list completed before I’m 25, as to constantly keep me aware of the life I’m living and the choices I’m granted the opportunity of making. So instead of calling this a bucket list, encompassing all of the old-age connotations and skydiving excursions, I’m calling mine a pail list. It’s on a smaller scale with simple activities, and while it  still looks like a bucket, its scope is much more pail-like in nature.

My Pail List:

  • Dye my hair blonde (CHECK, October, 2013)
  • Dye my hair red (CHECK, November, 2012)
  • Lose weight (I’m constantly completing this item)
  • Run an official race (CHECK, June, 2013)
  • Swim in the ocean naked (No idea how this will happen)
  • Get sent an edible arrangement (I’ve already alerted my boyfriend)
  • Plant a garden (First I need some space)
  • Wear a bikini (Yikes, just yikes)
  • Have professional pictures taken (Maybe on a nice beach)
  • Go to a spa (Friends and I are looking into this)
  • Do the polar bear plunge (Look out for team Ice Ice Save Me this winter)
  • Go to a concert (CHECK, May, 2013)
  • Sing karaoke (CHECK, December, 2013)
  • Cook all of the recipes I’ve collected (Feeding to the dog is allowed)
  • Use my passport (And first, get a passport)
  • Write a novel (Quality isn’t top priority)

Look forward to me updating this page a bit and expect a post for every one I am able to check off my list!

  3. I love this list! It’s inspired me to create my own “pail list!” Good luck on accomplishing all that you’ve set out to do! 😀

  4. I love that your pail list made me giggle the entire time I was reading it. I also love this concept that you have smaller wishes that can be accomplished more, not easily, but are more about enjoying everyday life!! I was actually just reading about Saint Therese “Little Flower” who was basically canonized because of her virtue to live an ordinary life that was so extraordinary but she never did large saintly things to capture the world’s attention. Yet, she did so with her simply saint like actions day in and day out.

  6. This is awesome! I love it!! I think everyone should have a pail list 🙂 Kind of a trial run to the big bucket! Or fill the bucket with a punch of pails (of different colors-lol)
F.Y.I. (I also have professional pictures on my list-just a few more pounds to go!)
Congrats on all you have been able to check off

    • Haha thanks so much, I’m glad you like the idea, and if I could have fund a picture of a bucket filled with colorful pails I definitely would have used it. Have fun getting your pictures taken, I’m sure you’ll look great!

  9. I’m also constantly completing the losing weight one. For swimming in the ocean naked, I recommend night swimming. Don’t try combining that with the polar bear one! 🙂

    • Hahaha I just signed up for the polar bear plunge and was considering combining that with the bikini one, but I’ll just save it up I think. And I totally plan on night swimming somewhere warm and tropical for when I’m naked haha

  10. Hey, if you start your “pail list” now while you are young that just means you have plenty of time to think of extra stuff for your bucket list later ! Good on you for starting early, wish I had .
